About Me

About two months ago I was invited to participate in a weight loss program for the TV show “The Doctors.”  I was a personal trainer for 10 years in Malibu.

I’m female, currently like taking photos, writing and chartering private jets. Previously owned a travel agency on the west side of Los Angeles. Spent years as a corporate trophy wife married to an investment banker. Had houses in Malibu and Miami, owned a large boat and drove a Jag. Then, we got divorced. The same year I had a mental break-down and spent a year in bed with serious depression. An entire year when washing my face and brushing my teeth in a day was my greatest accomplishment. After the right dose was discovered and the Prozac kicked in I took a mid-life sabbatical and spent time doing stand-up comedy where I met my current husband, a professional magician. Anyway, life isn’t perfect – far from it, and marriage is sometimes “rocky” but I’ve seen the greener grass and, trust me, it’s nothing but Astroturf.

Just read your blog, I too used to be an athlete, worked out 4-5 hours a day. Then became a mom, then a single mom and made no time for myself. Now the kids are out of the house and I am re-discovering myself. In that process looked down and found 100 additional pounds that I want gone. I just really want to be healthy so I can do the things I want to do (discovering those also). Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi I am Debbie, I have been overweight most of my life. Even when I was at my lowest weight in high school I was larger then the cute girls. Fast forward 40 years, two children and 3 husbands now married to the love of my life for 10 years and became a mother/mama again raising our 4 year old grandson. I am tired of being the “chubby one” the “big boned girl” the “you would be so cute if you lost some weight”. I want to spend the next 40 or so years having fun and enjoying time with my two special men. I am not looking back I am looking forward.

Thank you for the honesty of your life. The fact that you were a personal trainer really makes me want to read your blogs as I feel I can relate. I am 5’8 and had my third child 5 years ago. I weighed 130 after his birth (which was a heavier weight for me, but was happy) and now am 150. I work out 4 times a week but in the past year, have gained about 15 pounds. I am just not motivated, and not looking for a quick fix either. I need to find it within myself. I am just glad that I can follow someone who is “real”. Thanks again for your inspiration.

Can we have fat free salad dressing? Fat free ranch? Fat free mayo? I am confused by this.

Hi all, I’m female, 67 years old and had gastric by-pass surgery 6 years ago, but never got to my goal. I maintained a 35 lb weight loss, after losing 26 lbs before surgery, for a year. Instead of celebrating being able to maintain any kind of weight loss, I put back almost the whole 35 lbs. I have lost 25 of the 35 but have been on a plateau for months. I have even been exercising 3-5 times a week for at least a half hour, and have not been able to lose anymore. My husband and I are starting this plan tomorrow and am excited in the prospect of fast weight loss to start. I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you all. Happy New Year to all.

Is milk or creamer allowed in the accelerate portion of the diet? I need something in my coffee to lighten it and not sure if these are ok…. or would the sugar-free coffemate be ok? I am starting tomorrow and really need the coffee jump-start but cannot drink it black… please help!

Hello everyone, I am a 36 year stay at home mother of two. My daughter is 3 and my son is 17 months. I have battled my weight all my life. In high school I was an athele, size 8 at 140lbs. In my mid-twenties after many ups and downs I settled in at about 180, a size 12 for me. Then I got married and got really fat. Thirty pounds creeped up b4 I knew it. At 211 I joined LA Weightloss and was down 27lbs when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I gained 64 lbs with her and haven’t been under 220 since. I started this diet on the Monday after Christmas and as of this morning I’m down 8.3 lbs. I’m really excited about this actually working.
